How Much Does a Mobile App Cost in 2026?

Building a mobile app in the Hungarian market in 2026 typically starts between €10,000 and €20,000 for a first, narrower version, a mid complexity app lands between €20,000 and €38,000, and complex systems with many integrations run above €38,000. On top of that comes yearly maintenance, which is 15 to 25 percent of the one time build cost. Where does the price come from?

Mobile app development cost is essentially hours multiplied by an hourly rate. Hungarian agency rates run between €30 and €65 per hour, and one developer’s monthly capacity is roughly 160 hours. A four month project that partly ties up two developers, a designer, and a project lead simply cannot come out of €5,000 by the math. Anyone quoting that number is either selling a template as custom work, or will price in what the quote left out once the project is underway.

The six factors that move the price most

  1. Number of platforms and the technology. Separate native iOS and Android development means writing and maintaining almost twice the code. With a cross platform framework (we use Flutter) both apps come from one codebase, which cuts the total cost by 30 to 40 percent.   2. Backend and data handling. An offline calculator app barely needs a server. A booking system needs user management, a database, and an admin interface.
  3. Integrations. Card payment, invoicing software, an existing company system: each one is measured in weeks of work.
  4. Design ambition. A custom, brand designed interface versus a correct but simple UI built from system components.
  5. Login and permissions. As soon as there are multiple roles (guest, customer, admin), the number of cases to test jumps.
  6. Notifications, real time features. Push messages, chat, live status tracking: all useful, all separate development line items.
